ESSS Opens Call for Internship Positions

With the recent growth of ESSS and the expansion of its branches and members, ESSS is seeking non– paid Interns to join our team as Communications and Marketing Team Leader, strategy and partnership Team Leader, Program Team Leader, and Membership Team Leader. These positions are key leadership roles within the ESSS, providing assistance, direction, and Management to the ESSS Team.

COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING TEAM LEADER:

Responsibilities:

The Intern will work closely with current Program Coordinator, and the General Manager to provide strategic direction for the organization. The intern will assist them in providing primary oversight and management of all facets of the Communications Team. And is responsible providing key insights into the analytics, growth, trends among the members?

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Developing Press Release content.
  • Managing Social Media Relations.
  • Advertising of ESSS Events and programs; before, during and after.
  • Developing Brochures and Sponsorship packages for programs and events.
  • Create and follow through on annual strategy.
  • Hold regular Meetings with the ESSS Team.
  • Coordinating with program Team on promotion.
  • Preparation and presentation of analytics to the General Manager.
  • Work with other Team members to ensure all tasks are carried out with synergy and efficient fashion.

MEMBERSHIP TEAM LEADER

Responsibilities:

The Intern will work closely with current Program Coordinator, and report to the General Manager and provide strategic direction of the organization. The intern will assist them in providing primary oversight and management of all facets of the Membership Team. And is responsible providing key insights into the analytics, growth, trends among the members.

Activities include the following:

  • Collaborating with the ESSS team for Management on Membership, Institutional, Branch and Individual.
  • Promoting Products and services.
  • Hold regular Meetings with the ESSS Team.
  • Create and follow through on annual strategy.
  • Providing Certificates and recognition for members.
  • Manage anything related to members.
  • Preparation and presentation of analytics to the General Manager.
  • Work with other Team members to ensure all tasks are carried out with synergy and efficient fashion.

PROGRAM TEAM LEADER

Responsibilities:

The Intern will work closely with current Program Coordinator, and report to the General Manager and provide strategic direction of the organization. The intern will assist them in providing primary oversight and management of all facets of the Program Team. And is responsible providing key insights into the analytics, growth, trends among the members.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Planning, Proposing and Management of the society’s annual Programmes and events.
  • Preparing and developing event contents and themes.
  • Preparation of relevant program documents such as proposals, reports,
  • Hold regular Meetings with the ESSS Team.
  • Create and follow through on annual strategy.
  • Preparation and presentation of analytics to the General Manager.

STRATEGY AND PARTNERSHIP TEAM LEADER:

Responsibilities:

The Intern will work closely with current Program Coordinator, and report to the General Manager and provide strategic direction of the organization. The intern will assist them in providing primary oversight and management of all facets of the strategy and partnership Team. And is responsible providing key insights into the analytics, growth, trends among the members.

Activities include the following:

  • Develop Partner networks and strategic partnerships at local, regional and international levels.
  • Create and follow through on annual strategy.
  • Using Method driven approaches to gain results from partnerships.
  • Coordinating the management of current existing partnerships.
  • Preparation and presentation of analytics to the General Manager.
  • Hold regular Meetings with the ESSS Team.
  • expand and diversify the funding base/pipeline, In Conjunction with members of the IEC committee and the board ,
  • Work with other Team members to ensure all tasks are carried out with synergy and efficient fashion.

These are Professional volunteer positions. In addition to appointment on the Teams, the successful applicants will become appointed members of the Ethiopian Space Science Society, where he /she will be required to regularly provide updates, and share insights on organizational matters.

Estimated Time Commitment: 3 working days a week, 4 hours a day.

Duration of Term: 3 Months,

Necessary Qualifications:

  • ESSS Membership: Register on the ESSS website and between 19 – 35 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Passion for Space Science and technology, and a clear understanding of the vision of the society.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines without compromising the quality of work.
  • Teamwork Capacity.
  • Knowledge of social media tools (e.g. – Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc…)
  • Flexible to meet with the manager and Coordinators on a regular basis.
  • Communication skills.
  • Responsiveness and strong attention to detail.
  • Web and social media skills are a plus
  • Prior experience in public relations/communications and/or Marketing is a plus.
  • Communication skills and ability to respond in a timely manner are vital.
