Since 2004, the establishment of the Ethiopian Space Science Society has been striving to make societal attitude changes towards Astronomy, space science and technology fields , by engaging the society in different levels. In this effort, the society established 20 branch offices in different cities of Ethiopia, among them is Debre Tabor. The Debre Tabor branch is located inside the Debre Ta borUniversity with over hundred members from the university community and the general public. This page aims to provide useful information about space activities taking place in Debre Tabor area,in the frame work of ESSS outreach and education program past, present and future.
About Debre Tabor University
Debre Tabor University was established in 2008 by two great people namely, Addisu Legesse and Demeke Mekonnen who laid the foundation stone on the eastern part of the town about 4kms away from its center on 126 hectares of land.
Debre Tabor University and The Ethiopian Space Science Society (ESSS) first collaboratively held a seminar on February 01, 2016 on the topic “The relevance of space science and technology to Ethiopia” where participants from various zone departments and woreda administrative offices, stake holders and other interested individuals attended. The seminar was led by the Universities’ guest of honor – His Excellency Ato Tefera Walwa, the founder and chairperson of the board of ESSS, to open and present the highlights of the seminar.
