It has been mentioned that, the establishment of Entoto’s Space and Astronomical observatory center, which is located roughly 20 km from the heart of Addis Ababa, beside the guarantee it brings for the future realization of the aims and vision of ESSS, local residents are already benefiting from it in various forms.

According to the society, until recently the local residents did not have access to electricity power and clean water supplies which are basic requirements for any society livelihood. Upon the completion of the entire establishment, the two major infrastructure facilities will unquestionably prove worthy for the development of the area which will be ESSS’s contribution for the society that will be sustained in the future too.

The society has also immensely acknowledged the support it has received from Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, the Oromia Water project design enterprise and the Oromia Water Construction enterprise for bringing these two core infrastructure facilities into existence.

Out of the entire 4 hectares of land, which the Entoto’s Space and Astronomical observatory center currently possess, ESSS allocated part of the land to set up highland fruit plantation such as apples, with the help of professional guidance of agricultural research Institute, whose main objective is to experiment and promote modern agricultural initiatives that will certainly contribute the necessary framework for sustainable development, and pave a way to transfer much needed knowledge for local farmers in the area.

The society has also mentioned that, the local residents expressed happiness with the positive and encouraging change the observatory center have brought along to the community and also express high sense of hope that more such infrastructural transformations will occur in the future too.
